St Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre wins $10,000 from Ezidebit and Connex Online

Leading Australian payments provider Ezidebit has presented a $10,000 cheque to Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre (SA).

In December, Ezidebit clients old and new received the opportunity to go into the draw to win $10,000 for their chosen charity. Connex Online managing director Simon Buckingham won, and chose to donate the money to the new St Vincent Women's Crisis Centre.

Ezidebit Managing Director, Mark Healy, says, "Hearing both Simon and David talk about their hands on experience and everything that St Vincent's does for the community at large inspired our whole team. This also reaffirms the importance of our vision to be deeply engaged with our business, customer and broader community."

"We're passionate supporters of business and our community, and believe as a global organisation, it's not only our responsibility to empower our clients, but also improve the lives of those around them."

David Wark, CEO, St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc, says, "The St Vincent de Paul Society in South Australia has assisted people impacted by domestic violence for over 130 years, as part of our home visitation program which involves meeting with people and providing food, clothing, furniture or emergency funds.

"These experiences helped shape our decision to open the Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre. Combine these insights with the fact one woman in Australia is killed every week as a result of domestic violence (and the many other devastating statistics), plus the lack of suitable emergency accommodation for women in this situation here in SA (this being the ultimate catalyst), and it was clear we needed to do something.

"We then researched, consulted and brainstormed to ensure the centre would be as supportive and practical as possible to help shape positive futures."
